Sunshines and Creeps
Sunshine to the weekend. Longest. Week. Ever.
Creep to getting sick on Sunday. And still being sick today.
Sunshine to date night with Michael on Monday. We went to Ghiradheli, Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the Hancock Tower, and Table 52. Best Mac and Cheese EVER!
Creep to having to count in "sleeps" again, since Michael is in Las Vegas/Phoenix until Sunday. We haven't had to do that since this summer. I do not like it.
Sunshine to 2 more sleeps until Michael is back!
Sunshine to catching up with friends last night on the phone.
Sunshine to Michael's mom for helping me out and shipping some gifts to the S Family in Colorado.
Creep to not being able to work out this week because I'm sick.
Sunshine to seeing my amazing friend Lara last weekend in MSP. I love her!
Sunshine to office holiday parties yesterday and today.
Sunshine to a two-day work week next week. Then it's no work and all fun with family and friends until January 2.
Creep to Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL for not paying for my eye surgery pre-op. 4 months of fighting it got me nowhere.
Sunshine to K and Josh's wedding - two weeks from today.
Creep to my Country Christmas Pandora station. It is playing crappy music today.
Sunshine to going to look at Christmas lights tonight with Jen.

Two week hiatus
Sorry about the two week hiatus. One of my very best friends, Adam, passed away on Dec 3 so I haven't really been in a blogging mood since that time. I was in MSP last week for the funeral and the blizzard they had. Michael and I had pretty bad travel luck both ways, including the fact that we missed the wake on Thursday b/c Delta and OHare suck. I now also have an awful cold so it's been a tough few weeks.
To read more about Adam's story, please visit www.caringbridge.com/visit/adambaker. You will have to give an email address and password to read it. You can create your own or you can use mine - user name is jenni.l.glick@gmail.com and password is adambaker.
I've included a picture of us from college below. He was my date to my senior year sorority parents' formal. We remained very close over the last 5 years and I know there will not be a day that goes by that I won't think about him. He was my very best guy friend and I will never, ever stop missing him. Love you Adam!

The rest of my Thanksgiving vacation
Hi all,
Sorry for the two part blog post but I think it would have been one long and overwhelming post if I would have done it all at once.
Wednesday, Nov 24
The day was spent mostly playing with Kaden and cards. The boys watched some TV and let us play. Thanks guys! We baked cookies in the morning to snack on throughout the day.
We were worried about the weather this day and how it could affect my dad's work schedule. Luckily, he only had to work his regular schedule so we were all happy to have him home that night. My dad - being the amazing chef he is - made us homemade meatballs (complete with ribeye steaks we ground ourselves using his meat grinder), homemade "red sauce" (it's so amazing!), pasta, and 2 kinds of garlic toast. It was DELICIOUS! As always, we drank a few bottles of our favorite wines (Pinot Noir). I love our big family meals together!
I've included some pictures from Kaden's bath time that night. My mom bought him a rubber ducky tub and though he was a little hesitant about it at first, he loved it after the first time. Ironically, Jami and Chris had the same one at home so I'm sure they will be using it at home now.

Thanksgiving Day involved a lot of cooking. We had a fantastic feast that I meant to take a picture of, but forgot. Oops!
We did a late meal that night because of my dad's work schedule. While the turkey was cooking, we went over to my Grandma's to see my dad's family. Two of his sisters, their families, and his brother were home for the holidays. Our aunt Heidi had a baby boy, Henry, just a month after Kaden was born. It was fun to see them with each other and the differences between them. We also got a few family photos in.
Friday, Nov 26
The guys were ice fishing for most of the day, leaving the Doodles (this is the nickname my family calls ourselves) to play cards and with Kaden. Two of my aunts, one uncle, and two cousins also stopped by our house that day, which was fun.
We were "on the farm" A LOT this day! My mom bough Kaden a book that would read outloud to you and it was called On the Farm. We all had the book memorized by the end of the day. My favorite line: Green sheep! What do you say?....baaa baaa baaa....on the farm...with friends today! Um, why is the sheep green? The pig was pink. The horse was brown. Why not a white or black sheep? We never did figure that out...
It was a group effort that night for dinner, cooking three meals - egg rolls, sweet and sour shrimp, and fried rice. Everything was homemade and delicious. I love cooking with family!
P.S. My dad gave Kaden his first guitar lesson this morning. Here are some super cute pics :-)
Saturday, Nov 27
M and I made the 8 hour drive back to MSP on Sat. We had dinner with his family and crashed pretty early, since we were exhausted from our drive.
Sunday, Nov 28
M and I made the 6 hour drive back to Chicago on Sun. We had breakfast early with his family, stopped by the hospital to see Adam one last time, and then hit the road. We were back in Chicago around 7:30 and vegged before bed. I should probably unpack one of these days...
Hope my blog readers had a great Thanksgiving too!
