Sunshines and Creeps
Creep to working on Fridays again. I get so spoiled in the summer having Fridays off for 6 weeks so I know it's rude of me to complain. But it's hard to not :-) Back to regular work weeks now - wah wah.
Sunshine to my boss loving dogs and letting me bring Winnie to work yesterday so I wouldn't have to go home at lunch for the 4th day in a row. Other than a few accidents, Winnie did pretty well.
Sunshine to having an office! It's really nice to have a door to close. And yesterday, when I had Winnie at work, it was really nice that she didn't have to be in her kennel all day. I let her roam for a few hours in the afternoon and didn't have to worry about her.
Creep to Winnie's "teenage" years. At least that's what our behavioralist at puppy class calls this current time. She's being so naughty - peeing by the door instead of outside, biting everything, whining when we eat (I may have eaten dinner in the car last night to avoid this - what a loser!), and jumping on the dining room chairs, even when I put boxes there to try to deter her). This morning I left her in the kitchen for literally 20 seconds, and when I came back, she was on the table! Why the face, Winnie?!
Sunshine to Winnie still being super sweet most of the time. My favorite time is when I open her kennel. She crawls onto my lap and rolls on back so she's lying on me like I am holding a baby. Then I give her tummy rubs. She LOVES it.
Creep that Michael is gone so it's just me and Winnie Wed-Sun. He's camping with friends, and I'm so glad he went, but I miss him.
Sunshine to going to the cabin this weekend with Michael's parents and sister. Creep hat Michael isn't with us. This is the first time I've ever gone to the cabin without him.
Sunshine to a surprise birthday happy hour last night for my friend JB. No one blew the surprise and I could tell Everyone in our group but Michael was there and it was great to catch up with everyone.
Sunshine to the book I'm reading right now: The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. I have been staying up WAY to late the last two nights reading it but I cannot put it down. Even though most of it is historical fiction regarding the Holocaust, it is fascinating, heart-breaking, horrific, and so very important for the world to know. I highly recommend it and I'm still 100 pages for the end.
Creep to feeling unmotivated/not having the time to workout. At least I'm going on a walk tonight with Michael's mom, Toby, and Winnie.
Creep to feeling overwhelmed at work. How I am going to get everything done on schedule is beyond me.

My 30th Birthday Trip - Recap
As you know, I turned the big three oh a few weeks ago and I let you know that Michael was taking me on a mystery birthday trip. I knew very little before we left - basically just the temperature range and that's about it.
At the airport, Michael did not want to tell me where we were going until we went through security, so we used the online boarding passes on our phones to get through security. Once through, Michael gave me our wine journal and told me to open it to find out where we were going. So I opened it up and saw a ticket to SFO - San Francisco. I was excited - I haven't spent much time there but I know M loves it. Then he said "No, we're going back to Sonoma." I squealed with excitement - I never thought we'd get back there so soon! On to the Russian River Valley!
Michael had reserved an adorable little cottage for us on a small, local vineyard in Healdsburg, CA. It was the perfect space for us, as we were hardly there during our trip. We had spent one day in Healdsburg when we were in wine country for our honeymoon so we were familiar with where we were.
Saturday morning, we grabbed breakfast at a locals' favorite coffee shop, the Downtown Bakery and Creamery. On our honeymoon, we never went out for breakfast because we stayed at a B&B, so it was fun to try it. We ended up loving it and going there every day :-) On Saturday morning, we ended up sitting at a communal table and chatting with some locals. One of the guys, named Bill, became our next best friend for the weekend. He has a house in Italy that he offered to rent us anytime "at a good discount." He is close personal friends with our favorite wine maker of all time, and offered to set up an introduction with her the next time we are in Sonoma. He reaffirmed the plans we had made (dinners, winery tours) and told us about a few hidden gems as well. We plan to keep in touch with Bill in the future!
Saturday morning, we did a tasting with Lioco, a newer wine produced in the Russian River Valley. They do not have a winery yet so we did our tasting at a warehouse where they and other smaller wine makers make their wine. We met Jim, their director of sales, at the Pinot in the River festival we went to while on our honeymoon so Michael pulled some strings and got him to agree to host a tasting for us. Well, the day of our tasting, there was a "pick up event" (when people on wine lists can come and get their case vs paying for shipping) so there were lots of places hosting tastings in the warehouse. It was sort of chaotic but we were in our own little world, enjoying the wine with Jim. Just as we were starting, one of the founders/owners/winemakers stopped by and did the whole tasting with us. It was SO much fun and we learned a ton from Matt. We ended up buying a whole case from them :-)
Then we headed to Beonvia, a place we had not yet been. We had a great tasting (though the other two girls in it were sort of annoying) and then sat on the patio for a bit and enjoyed the scenery. Here are some picture of us and the scenery at Benovia.
Then we headed to a final tasting at Siduri. They also have a warehouse vs. winery and they produce a LOT of wines. There were at least 20 people in our tasting and they offered us 15+ wines. I had had my share for the day so I opted not to do the tasting but Michael enjoyed it and we called it a day.
That night, we had dinner at a local restaurant in Healdsburg called Zin and then enjoyed some gelato in the town's adorable square.
Sunday was my actual birthday and a wonderful day. We started with coffee from Downtown Bakery (and a nice conversation with Bill) before having brunch at Bistro Ralph. I had the best eggs benedict of my life and Michael had a crazy good (and spicy) bloody mary.
Then it was off to more wineries and vineyards. We went back to two of our favorite places - Merry Edwards and Lynmar - and then tried some new places. Bill had recommended we go to Francis Ford Coppola's winery. It was hardly a winery - there was movie paraphernalia everywhere, three tasting bars, two restaurants, a full-size pool (free and open to the public), three bocce ball courts, and an awesome pool-side cabana. We ate some food but aren't really big fans of their wine so we skipped it. Still, it was great to see the place because it was spectacular.
We ended our day at Ferrari-Carano. My mom's cousin, another winery enthusiast in our family, is on their mailing list and recommended we check it out. The grounds were beautiful! But after a disappointing tasting with a sort of rude staff member, I was ready to write it off. But Michael asked a question and we were introduced to a new staff member name Nicole, who realized that we knew our stuff and wanted the "good stuff." We were led downstairs to the private tasting area, where we saw the owners private wine selection (including a bottle worth $15,000!). We tried several of their reserve wines, which we really enjoyed. It was a great way to end our winery experience on this trip!
For my birthday dinner, we went to Farmhouse, where were stayed for our honeymoon. Their Michelin-star rated restaurant is open Thurs-Sun and as remembered, it was amazing. They still had us in their system and knew I didn't do seafood. Michael had aspargus soup, lamb chops, and carrot cake. I had potato ravioli, ribeye, and a chocolate souflee. We tried a French Pinot, which was different but delicious. Our meals were seasonal, local, and delicious!
Monday was spent driving back to San Francisco and traveling back to MN. It was a quick trip but a wonderful way to celebrate turning 30. I can't wait to go back again someday!!!

Wanted: Missing Camera
So Michael and I went on my birthday trip last weekend. We had a wonderful time and I'll tell you more about it in a future post. But our trip didn't start off so well...
We lost our camera somewhere between security and when we got on the plane. Neither of us can remember the last time we had so we don't know exactly where we lost it, which is not making our attempts to recover it any easier. It was likely stolen after we left it wherever we did because no one can find it. We've talked to TSA, airport police, Delta, and pretty much everyone with no luck.
And while I'm thankful that it wasn't something really horrible that started our trip - we're both healthy and safe - I can't help but be really bummed about it. We had only had the camera since August, it was quite expensive (in the thousands of dollars) and the worst part of it all: it has our original wedding videos on it. We have most of the videos and pictures downloaded onto our computer (and external hard drive) so we have them, but we've lost the original and that makes me sad.
I am hoping and praying that whoever has it finds our wedding video and realizes just how important it is to someone. That someone being me.

It's my birthday!
So I turn 30 today. I cannot believe it. I remember when my mom turned 30 (I was 9) and I thought “Wow, that’s old.”
Actually being 30, I don’t feel that old. Sure, I know I’m definitely not 20 anymore – I cannot eat whatever I want, whenever I want; my skin is aging – boo!; I’m content staying in vs. going out; etc. But actually turning 30 helps me realize that 30 is actually quite young! I could have another 60+ years ahead of me if I live like my great-grandmas (two lived until 95 and both my grandmas are still alive).
10 years ago, if you would have asked me what my life would be like at 30, I would have said that I was a lawyer, married for probably 5 years or so and have a few kids, living in Minnesota. Well, the Minnesota part is right but that’s about it. Still, I don’t feel like I failed by not having kids by now or being something specific in my career. I have an amazing husband, good job (that I usually like) in a great career (that I really like), awesome family and friends, a house, and so much more than is better than I could have imagined. If my next 30 years are anything like the first 30, I think I’m in for a good ride.
I am sure we are enjoying my mystery birthday trip and will be sure to blog about it when we get back!

Goals - April 2013
It's the beginning of the month and that's means it's time for goals! With two weeks off, you'd think I'd get it all done. Not so much...
Purple = complete
Black = incomplete
Professional Goals - March 2013
Invitations out the door to DAA event. This is a must! Literally went out a month before the RSVP date. Not happy about this but at least they finally made it out the door.
Transition prep. Some is done but still have more to do.
Change that freaking calendar. I DID THIS! FINALLY!
Hire someone for my job so I can start my new one. Still haven't hired anyone. And was told that I have to do both now with no more help from my predecessor. Awesome.
Clean my desk. Yes, I just hope that I can keep it up.
Work only one day a week during Spring Break. Worked one day each week.
Enjoy time off the last two weeks of March. Yes I did :-)
Personal Goals - March 2013
Run/spin/swim three days a week. I did this 4-5 days a week. Now I need to get into the 6 days.
Yoga one day a week. Blarg.
Sign up for the triathlon. Yes! We are officially doing it!
Try a new recipe. Tried a few - my favorite was our lemon-ricotta pancakes with berry compote.
Figure out what to do when Jessi visits. We had a great time :-) We shopped, cooked, went out for dinner with my parents (also in town) and played Settlers of Catan. It was great!
Do my March Madness bracket with Michael. This is our 4th year of it and we love it. Done and I sucked it right up (per usual).
Watch some March Madness games. Yes, have been able to watch lots of games. Even the horrible injury heard 'round the world in yesterday's Louisville/Duke game. I'm still naseous thinking about it.
Enjoy Ski Trip 2013 with Jami and Chris. Yes, it was great. I still need to blog this.
Go to the cabin for a weekend. We went this past weekend and I did this.
Hang our wedding photos. Not yet. We are waiting for Michaels to have a sale on the frame we used so that we can get the last photo framed. It would like kind of dumb to hang the others with the missing photo.
Organize our junk cabinet. One of the few things on my to-do list that I didn't get to.
Enjoy two glorious weeks of Spring Break! I'd like two more :-)

Mystery Birthday Trip
In 10 days, I turn 30. To celebrate, Michael is taking me on a mystery birthday trip. Here's what I know:
- We are getting on an airplane and have a car rented.
- I do not need a passport.
- It will be 60-70 degrees during the day and 40-50 degrees in the evening.
I have no idea where we are going so packing is going to be tough. I'm trying to get out of Michael what types of clothes I need - do I need dress clothes and if so, how much, boots vs. sandals, that type of thing.
I am assuming we are not going anywhere in the Midwest, based on Michael's weather forecast. Here are some of my guesses:
- Washington, DC. I have mentioned to Michael a few times that I've never been and I'd like to do the tour-isty thing there.
- Charleston, SC. Neither of us have spent much time in the South, and this is a place I'd be interested in going.
- Anywhere in CA. So many options there and the weather forecast fits.
- Willamette Valley in Oregon. Wine country - need I say more.
- Phoenix. Can't go wrong with this trip.
- Chicago. We obviously love it there.
I'm so excited for our trip - pictures to come after!

Goals: February 2013
Oh January – you were freaking freezing! And busy! And yet, I didn't do so hot on my goals, especially my work ones. What the heck did I do all month at work???

Professional Goals - January 2013
Learn as much as I can at my conference this month. Done. I actually got some good takeaways.

Yoga once a week. I went once. That’s a start.
Celebrate Michael’s birthday with special, fun surprises for him. It was a fun day!
Try at least two new recipes. Yes – I think we tried 6 this month, thanks to a new cookbook. YUM! I've made banana bread two weekends in a row.
Phone dates with Kristen, Steph, Jen, and Caitlin. I even SAW the first three but have failed to connect with Caitlin.
Hang out with Chad and Michelle. Yes – finally!!!
Watch Miss America and talk with Kristie about it :-) Yes. The woman I wanted to win did not but oh well.
Figure out wedding stuff to sell and get on Craig's List. Nope. Spring Break goal.
Get my wedding dress preserved. Another spring break goal.
Paint the kitchen and guest bathroom. If we could only decide on paint colors. We have 3 1x1 squares in the bathroom and 2 in the kitchen.
Start planning our bathroom project. Not only are we planning, we’ve started! Paint = check! Now on to floor tile!
Take down outside Christmas lights. Done. We had to wait for a day when it wasn’t so cold or snowy so they were up until Jan 24 but we stopped turning them on on Michael’s birthday.
Start thinking about spring planting (yeah, I’m a nerd). Yes. Hydrangea, here I come!
Order wedding photos. Grr…
Read at least three books (I have a plane ride this month so I should be able to knock out one book on that). Yes! And I have so many more to read.

30 before 30
First off, happy birthday to my mom, who is celebrating a milestone birthday today and is home sick with the flu. What a bummer birthday! Love you Mom!!!
Since Michael and I got married nearly 5 months ago, I keep getting emails from “The Nest,” which is basically the married version of The Knot (there is also “The Bump” for when you are preggo). The emails are often newsletter-style, with six or so article titles and accompanying pictures on things like “How to keep your marriage sexy,” “How to decorate your dining room,” “Easy entertaining recipes” and crap like that (can you tell how I really feel about them?). Very rarely do I ever even click on them but there are some occasional headlines that grab my attention (or make me laugh) and I take a look.
Last week, there was one article titled “10 things you should know how to do before you turn 30.” Since I turn 30 in soon, I thought "Hey, this list could be interesting." Below is their list and how I did:
Make and keep a budget
I have been keeping a budget since I finished graduate school. And now that we are planning housing renovations, M and I are being extra vigilant about our budget.
Cook a signature dish
I feel like I am the most on top of this one. I have about 20 signature dishes, and my friends who know me well know that I am a good cook and baker. I love being in the kitchen and my signature dishes are usually not too hard (though they are often time consuming) so if you’re ever looking for some good recipes, let me know.
Write professionally
Like cooking, I feel good about this one. I am a good writer and I write professionally all the time - for my school magazine, in our solicitations, etc. Writing just comes naturally to me.
Not part with hard-earned cash
In my early 20s, I was a spender. Now that I am older, I really do have a much harder time spending my hard-earned money. I have been eyeing a purse for almost two years and while we have the money, I just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger. I'd rather have a cool vase for my house. Or save for new flooring in my bathroom.
Change a flat tire
I can absolutely not do this, nor do I ever really intend to learn how to do this. My independent brain is saying “You’re a fake” but my practical self is saying “Yeah right, Jenni…” I believe when I was in drivers ed in HS, my dad just signed the piece of paper saying he taught me how to fix a tire and that was it. He knew just as well as I did that that would probably never happen.
Look up your credit report
I do know how to do this and I have analyzed mine recently (since the house purchase). Not only was mine accurate but my score was good too!
Manage your money
This is something we are really working on right now and have spent a bunch of time on since we got married. Between our mortgage, insurances of all sorts, retirements, ROTHs, etc. there is just a lot to manage. Such is life! I am happy to say that, other than our mortgage and Michael’s car loan, we are completely debt free! We paid off our wedding expenses as they came, we have no student debt, and my car is paid off. We feel pretty lucky to be able to say that.
Swim
Can I swim? Yes. Am I a good swimmer? Eh. But being married to a former high school swim captain will help me become a better swimmer.
Move on
Oh, how I wish I could back to my early and mid-20s and tell myself this! I had the hardest time moving on from things sometimes – breakups, lost friendships, hurt feelings, etc. It’s so not worth it. I feel like I am better at moving on now that I am nearly 30.
Work/Life Balance
I would pretty much echo my last statement for this one – I am much better about this now. My first salaried job left me little work/life balance and it led me to a completely different career. I am so glad it happened because my work/life balance is really good now, and I work at a place that not just believes in it but lives it.
Total = 9/10
I still have 2 months until I turn 30. Any other recommendations of things I need to know how to do before I turn 30?

Sunshines and Creeps
Creep to a slow work week. Obviously my personal life week was good since it was Michael's birthday but work was slow and boring.
Sunshine to Miss North Dakota winning the prelim talent award at the Miss America pageant last night. In my recollection, this is the first time that Miss ND has ever won a prelim award in talent. I cannot wait for the pageant tomorrow night. My early favorites are North Dakota, Illinois, Texas, Maryland, Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, NY, Michigan, Missouri and New Mexico.
Creep to not having a regular weekend since I have to go to DC for a conference.
Creep to putting off cleaning my house. I have a fun night ahead of me.
Sunshine to talking about some house plans last weekend. It will be a busy winter at our house!
Sunshine to getting a framed print from the wedding this week and loving the way it turned out. Now I (and by I, I mean Michael) just need to get up on the wall, instead of sitting on a chair in my living room.
Sunshine to celebrating four months of marriage this week. I can't believe how fast it's going by!

Happy Birthday to my husband!
Today is Michael’s birthday. It is his fourth birthday we have celebrated together but the first time we haven’t been able to spend the entire day together – boo! Even though we’ll get to see each other tonight, it just does not feel the same spending the day apart.
Anyways, in honor of his birthday, below are my top 24 (for his age – yep, he’s 6 years younger than me – call me a cougar) favorite things about him.
Anyways, in honor of his birthday, below are my top 24 (for his age – yep, he’s 6 years younger than me – call me a cougar) favorite things about him.
- He is my best friend, my husband (I love saying that!), and the love of my life.
- He holds my hand.
- He writes me love emails, notes, etc. When we first starting dating, we used to write each other emails and compete about who could have the higher word count and number of emoticons. I so looked forward to those epic 4000-6000 word emails with 20-30 random Gmail emoticons.
- He’s insanely smart. He went to Northwestern – enough said.
- He’s brave. I mean, he asked me out at 21 years old. Gutsy!
- He is a great cook. The first time we cooked together, we made my grandma’s homemade pizza. Michael had not spent much time in the kitchen before then, but he learned that day that he loved to cook and he’s good at it. And now we cook pretty much every meal together.
- He's handsome.
- He’s a mind reader. I had dreamed up in my head what I thought was the perfect marriage proposal years ago and told one person about it. That person claims he never told Michael (and I believe him) but Michael executed it exactly.
- He loves wine as much as I do (or more).
- He loves music, musicals, singing, etc.
- He’s creative. For example, he started our bucket list is on the back of a Ghiradheli napkin (those of you who attended the wedding know that) and it’s now more than 200 things long. I can’t wait to keep checking things off the list.
- He’s photogenic.
- He loves to read.
- His laugh is contagious (and when he can’t breathe because he’s laughing so hard, it’s hilarious).
- He loves what he does for a living. His happiness in his career really means a lot to me.
- We love to talk about our dreams – for life, careers, family, homes, etc.
- He keeps his promises.
- He’s impulsive, which is good for me because I am usually not.
- He’s friendly and now my friends are our friends.
- He loves my family.
- He helps me the clean the house. I know that sounds kind of dumb but it means a lot to me that we do it together.
- He lets me get away with my type A personality most of the time, but calls me on it when I’m being ridiculous.
- He’s a romantic.
- He loves me unconditionally.
Happy birthday Michael!

Sunshines and Creeps
Sunshine to being in ND until Wednesday. Happy to be here with my family!
Sunshine to seeing all my Oothoudt (mom’s maiden name) cousins tomorrow. We haven’t all been together for Christmas in at least 5 years, maybe more.
Creep to the cold, cold, COLD weather forecast in ND while I’m home. Love that there is a 2 degree difference between Tuesday’s high and low.
Sunshine to our Christmas-y date on Monday. Best Monday I have had in a long time :-)
Sunshine to Christmas with Michael’s family on Tuesday. As always, they are far too generous. Now if their gift would only get here.
Creep to the fact that Michael’s parents’ gift did not get here in time for Christmas. Of course I ordered it the last week in October and was guaranteed that it would be here by Christmas, only to have the company make an error on it and not send it to me until Dec 10, so it had to be sent back and it’s still not here yet. Michael’s parents were great about it but I was super disappointed.
Sunshine to our Christmas gift from my parents. It was delivered Wednesday and we love it.
Creep to sucking at working out this month. I’m sure I’ll do nothing by eat while we’re in ND too.
Sunshine to not having to go back to work (with the exception of an event on Dec 29) until January 7.
Creep that I haven’t figured out what to get Michael for his birthday yet (January 8). I should get on that.
Sunshine to Christmas, my favorite holiday!

Sunshines and Creeps
Sunshine to exciting news. I can’t say much more right now but will share when I can. Sorry for being cryptic…
I am not pregnant for any of you who went there.
Sunshine to getting my hair done last night. Much needed!
Creep to missing Adam much more than usual this week. Monday marked two years since he died and I still feel overwhelmed by sadness at times.
Sunshine to one of my very best friends Michelle. She needs a little extra Sunshine right now (death in the family) so please send her some positive thoughts.
Sunshine to dinner with my parents this week for my dad’s birthday. It was a big birthday (he’s 20 years old than me so you can do the math) and Michael and I love spending the night with him and my mom.
Sunshine to our activity advent calendar. We have had fun taking turns with each day this year (Michael has the odd days and I have the evens). I’ll post an update of our activities so far next week.
Sunshine /Creep to snow this weekend. I am happy that it will finally look Christmas-y around here, but I am dreading driving in it.
Sunshine to my boss’ Hanukkah party on Sunday. She makes delicious potato latkes.
Sunshine that we have a snowblower this year. Thank you to one of Michael’s uncles for selling it to us last summer. I have a feeling it’s going to come in handy this weekend.
Side note – one of Michael’s uncles named Tom sold it to us. He has two uncles named Tom. Each is a brother to one of Michael’s parents and they have the EXACT SAME BIRTHDAY – date and year. How weird is that?!?!
Sunshine to Christmas music. I LOVE IT! My favorite song of all-time is O Holy Night. I could listen to either by Martina McBride or Lea Michele’s versions on repeat all day. And people who know me well know that I am capable of listening to the same song on repeat all day (Lara, remember some of my OFSL faves?).
Creep to car repairs. I hate those big bills.
Sunshine to going to ND in less than two weeks for Christmas with my family.

Sunshines and Creeps
Sunshine to my sweet little niece's first birthday today! I cannot believe how big she is and she is so mobile. Her personality is a lot like me when I was that age - always on the move :-) Love you Kynleigh!
Sunshine to a 5-day weekend for me and a 4-day weekend for Michael. It's so nice to have some time off together!
Sunshine to Thanksgiving food. It was delicious yesterday and I really enjoyed spending time with my family.
Creep to running out of photo storage on blogger. I either have to delete a bunch of photos or pay $2.50 a month to upgrade to more storage.
Creep to my paper weighing 10.2 lbs yesterday (I weighed it). I love ads but it's kind of ridiculous.
Creep to Black Friday madness. You could not pay me to go shopping today.
Sunshine to making kiss cookies on Wednesday. First Christmas cookies of the season.
Creep to never being able to sleep in anymore. I woke up at 6:30 yesterday and 6am today.
Sunshine to the gorgeous weather Wed and yesterday. Creep to how freaking cold it is today (currently 23!).
Sunshine to chopping down our Christmas tree tomorrow. I love this tradition of going to the tree farm the day Saturday of Thanksgiving.
Sunshine to my favorite season of the year - Christmas! Only 31 days until Christmas Eve.

Wedding Wednesday - One month (and a massive to-do list)
One month from today, Michael and I are getting married! I can’t believe it’s only 31 days away. I am so excited to call him my husband!
In the next 31 days, we have a lot to do. In addition to our wedding to-do list, we have the following events:
Two concerts - Coldplay and Rascal Flatts
Four birthdays - Michael’s mom, dad, sister, and grandma
Two sporting events - Lynx and Twins
All of those things take place on different evenings, leaving less time for us to tackle our to-do list. We have to manage our time wisely, which means workouts happen at 5am and over lunch (yes, I'm doing two-a days at this point), "dividing and conquering" has become our new motto, and executive decisions
Here’s some of the stuff we need to accomplish this month for the wedding:
• Meet with Jill about ceremony
• Finalize music for ceremony
• Select music for pre-ceremony loop and cocktail hour
• Confirm DJ and discuss logistics
• Online DJ form
• Confirm questions with caterer
• Must-play and do-not-play list
• Go over timeline
• Send Garon food selections and table numbers
• Finalize with bus transportation to make sure all needs met (turn around space, trees trimmed, etc)
• Create day-of timeline for attendants
• Buy votive candles
• Final fittings for Jenni
• Utility site visit
• Apply for Marriage License
• Call people who haven’t RSVPed (there are 26 as of today)
• Finish seating chart
• Input dinner selections into database for caterer
• Get final versions of signage from Garon
• Send Garon final dinner selections by August 22
• Make directional signs to cabin and for events at cabin
• Buy paper for signage, programs, and escort cards
• Print all signage
• Print programs
• Assemble programs
• Write individual vows
• Buy the rest of the booze
• Finalize gifts for each other
• Insure wedding rings
• Wrap gifts
• Confirm with Camp Friendship housing for GM and parking situation.
• Confirm with those who are giving speeches and discuss length and appropriateness
• Distribute wedding-day schedule and contact list to all parents, attendants and vendors
• Confirm flower delivery time
• Confirm cake delivery time
• Pay final flower balance
• Pay final cake balance
• Pay final photography balance
• Planting at cabin
• Book appointments (spray tan, nails, facial)
I took off any of the things I didn't want to spoil before the big day :-)
Lots to do but I cannot wait!

29...
Saturday was my birthday. I am now in my last year of my 20s...it's weird. I feel old. Not like old old, but older in a mature way. I'm getting married this year. We have plans for a major remodel of our house, hopefully starting next spring. We want to get a dog. There is just so much that is going to happen to me in the next year, and I can't wait! Here's to making my last year as a 20-something amazing!!

Sunshines and Creeps
Sunshine to my
birthday tomorrow. It’s my last 20s birthday (so now you know how old I am). Apparently, there are “things
planned” but I do not know what these things are.
Sunshine to
having the day off today with Michael. It’s our first day off together since
December.
Sunshine to
registering for wedding gifts today. Give me the gun J
Sunshine to good
yoga classes, lake runs, and bike rides this week.
Creep showing up
to work on Monday and finding ants ALL over my desk. Apparently a custodian
spilt something all over my desk over break and didn’t clean it up very well.
It was gross!
Sunshine to the Twins first game of the season today. Let's hope they aren't as bad as everyone is predicting...
Creep to my
impatience with wanting to see our engagement pictures. I’ve been checking my
email nearly every hour (or more) since Monday hoping there will be an email
from our photographer saying that they are up online so we can view them, even
though she told me that she probably wouldn’t have them up until Friday.
Sunshine to
finding a new author that I like. I recommend PJ Tracy, a mother-daughter
writing pair whose murder mystery type stories have recurring, likeable characters
that are set in Minneapolis. I’ve read the first two (of at least 6) and liked
both.
Creep to one of
my coworkers getting a new job. I will miss her.
Creep to the
ending on Good Wife last week. I was to see the Alicia/Jackie smackdown!
