This morning, Michael had an out-patient surgery on his wrist. He had a ganglion cyst on his left wrist that has been bugging him for years. He has had it drained a few times but it really only takes away the bump and pain for a few months, and then it's back. So this morning, we had it removed. His recovery time should be a little bit of pain for the first day or so, a few days with a bandage, and stitches for two weeks (so no swimming). But then, he should be back to normal.
Michael took care of me a few years ago when I had my eye surgery. You can read about my adventures with that here and here.
So now it's my turn to be the care taker. I picked up some of his favorite snacks, baked my famous chocolate chip cookies, and am making some comfort food (potato soup) for dinner. He's got pillows, books, and Jamba juice, along with every piece of technology known to man next to him while he's resting in our big, comfy bed in clean sheets.
Michael is a great patient so far, much better than I ever was. The only tough part is making sure he doesn't push things too far - like most guys, he thinks he invincible. So I'm trying to get him to take it easy and relax by enticing him with all the goodies and being a good care taker for him. We make a great team and often, he is the one who is either taking care of me or offering to take care of me. That said, it's nice to be able to take care of him when he needs it :-)
